Portfolio: The Letter VN

The Letter (2017)

  1. GDAP GameOn 2017 Awardee — Best Narrative/Story
  2. Designed the game’s intricate branching dialogue system that was highly praised by players for the “choices matter” narrative style.
  3. Developed the original concept into a storyline that players connected with emotionally and established the company’s reputation for bringing meaningful, heartfelt stories using games as a medium.
  4. Developed the characters and storylines of Isabella, Rebecca, Ashton, and Zach, and assisted in developing the characters of Luke, Hannah, and Marianne.
  5. Wrote the script for Chapter 1: Isabella, Chapter 3: Zach, Chapter 5: Rebecca, Chapter 6: Ashton, and a portion of Chapter 7: Luke.
  6. Assisted in implementing the script into the engine and provided additional detailed scene direction and feedback to guarantee that the story’s implementation is consistent with the original vision and intent.
  7. Collaborated with voice directors and actors by providing line directions and narrative context in the script to ensure that the dialogue is delivered effectively.
  1. Drew backgrounds and cutscene illustrations found in the Prologue and Chapter 1: Isabella.
  2. Illustrated the initial concept art for Takako’s ghost form.
  3. Assisted in writing the script and creating storyboards for the animated opening billboard, various teasers, and trailers used in the promotion of the game.
  4. Created character illustrations and various static & animated materials used in the game’s physical merchandise, kickstarter campaign, and release promotion.
  5. Assisted in the creation and distribution of press releases.
  6. Established and grew the company’s social media presence in the following platforms, within a period of 2 years:
    1. Discord server membership, from 0 to 1400+
    2. Twitter following, from 0 to 1200+
  1. Provided extensive feedback on the game’s technical aspects such as design, gameplay, and overall quality by performing multiple types of testing on every build’s iteration
  2. Identified and reported bugs to the development team and verified those that have been fixed.

  5. Developed the characters and storylines of Vel, Princess Kamala, and other side characters associated with their stories.
  6. Provided extensive edits and assistance in developing Amy’s, Giselle’s, Princess Beatrice's and the Squire’s character arcs.
  7. Wrote the major world building details for Alkos and built a basic structure and ruleset for the fictional Alkosi language.
  8. Reviewed, edited, and provided extensive feedback and revision guidelines to the whole game’s script.
